I’m Chris Crumpler
and I run Buzz Studios.

1 PART RECORDING ENGINEER, 1 PART BACK-UP SINGER, 3 PARTS DRUMMER... TOO MANY PARTS?

I’m most happy when I’m performing music or helping others with their music-related endeavors.

I’m a night person, which works out well, because that's pretty much an unspoken rule for musicians.

When I’m not gigging, I’m usually still burning the midnight oil in other ways, like perhaps watching hours of audio recording videos by Rick Beato.

If music reflects the different phases in a person's life, my journey tells many stories.

My formal education is in music performance. Simply put, I paid lots of money to learn how to beat all sorts of things with sticks (drum set, timpani, marimba, etc.).

I started playing the drums at age 6.

My earliest performances were with my family’s band. We started out as a singing group, but then morphed into “The Partridge Family” when we added me on drums, my sister on flute, mom playing bass/piano, and dad on the guitar.

Because my dad was a farmer, we got to travel the country and represent our local community by performing at Grange conventions.

Over the years, I've played with many groups and immersed myself in a variety of styles.

I’ve played rock, R & B/soul, jazz, big band, country, Dixieland, classical, punk, and more. I’m grateful for all of my musical experiences, as they've helped shaped me in ways that I couldn’t have anticipated.

Nowadays, my passion project is playing in a Motown/soul band called Roemen and the Whereabouts.
